The conference on the two online marketing disciplines SEO and SEA is a must-attend event for us, and two of our colleagues attended this year. Their main interests were website relaunches, AI and the future of search, repurposing content, and new trends and tools in general.

Our colleague Melanie was particularly looking forward to the keynotes by Dale Sparks and Mike King. The two industry leaders shed light on how search behavior is changing and how SEO is expanding into new areas. Changing search behavior was a recurring theme, and not only in this presentation. What strategies should be used now to optimally position ourselves? Our experts deal with this every day. Melanie’s highlight was her apparent awareness that SEO and PPC complement each other wonderfully and can achieve real success when combined. Seeing how the two disciplines are increasingly merging and how holistic strategies are becoming increasingly important also confirms our way of thinking at PIA Media.

For me, the SMX is like a class reunion with familiar SEO faces. I was also able to make many new contacts. Moreover I enjoy the intensive exchange on current challenges and future developments.

Mathias Feistl, an Online Marketing SEO trainee, was very impressed by the conference’s diverse offerings. Over 60 sessions with exciting panelists and insights. His most exciting takeaway: New search engines are gaining popularity, and with new generations, new search behaviors are emerging. Mathias was particularly looking forward to Rand Fishkin, who shared cutting-edge data on zero-click searches, and Tom Anthony, who provided practical insights into search behavior in conjunction with AI.

Katharina Rolfes, Online Marketing SEO Trainee, was excited to learn from Nadine McNulty about website relaunches, as she’s been able to support one of our clients through a relaunch and directly benefit from the dos and don’ts. Kathie’s highlight was her statement that traditional search isn’t dead, but is constantly evolving. And adapting to this and finding suitable solutions is what she particularly appreciates about her role.

The three conclude that there are increasingly more practical examples of how well AI can support us in our processes and make our work easier. It’s no longer a question of whether AI can be a solution, but rather how we should best use it.
